The image of Gui Chou
The last weeks of winter, January into early February, belong to Chou (丑), the Ox: cold, wet earth that looks asleep but is quietly readying the spring. Gui (癸) is Yin Water, the rain and the dew. Chou is also the storehouse of Metal, and its hidden stems (藏干, cang gan) are Ji (己) Earth, Gui (癸) Water and Xin (辛) Metal.
