The image of Bing Zi
The longest night of the year is also its turning point. At the winter solstice, tradition says, one strand of yang returns (冬至一阳生, dong zhi yi yang sheng). Bing (丙) is Yang Fire, the sun; Zi (子) is the Rat, midnight and midwinter. Bing Zi is that returning light, the sun reflected on still, cold water.
The Rat holds only Gui (癸) Water, which controls Fire and so becomes your Direct Officer (正官, zheng guan): order, restraint, reputation. In the nayin (纳音, na yin) system the pair becomes Water in the Ravine (涧下水, jian xia shui), a clear stream running between rocks. Bing sits in Conception (胎, tai), the stage of a new life taking shape.
Personality
Composure is your public face.
